The name Selang could mean in indonesian language “seulanga” (sometime also kenanga) what is the name of the cananga tree (latin name Cananga odorata). It is the tropical tree that is native to Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It is valued for the perfume extracted from its flowers, called “ylang-ylang”. Flowers itself are also used in balinese traditional hindu offerings called “canang”.
